About
I am a PhD candidate (ABD) in Medieval History at the University of Tennessee. I received my MA in History from the University of New Mexico in 2008 and my BA in History from Carleton College in MN in 2005. My research interests include: chivalry and tournaments, aristocratic culture, identity, sumptuary legislation, borderlands and conceptions of the Other, Muslim-Christian relations, memory and legend, travel literature, and the effects of disasters upon medieval societies. For my dissertation I am planning on examining identity, propaganda, and court culture in Angevin England, particularly as it relates to King Arthur, Jerusalem, and crusading.
I am Graduate Student Council Member for the Southeastern Medieval Association's Executive Council. I am also the coordinator of the Medieval Frontiers Faculty-Graduate Seminar for the Marco Institute, UTK.
