About

My primary research focus is on the role of religion in ethnic U.S. literatures. My current projects examine theological readings of Angelico Chavez, differences between religious forms of realism and "magic" realism, and the role of Christianity in the stories of Ty Pak.

I teach a range of classes from Race/Ethnicity in U.S. Literature to the Literature of the Bible. I also have a background in World Literatures (especially European and Asian), so I teach the World Literature surveys and a course on World Scriptures.
